BIOGRAPHY

Rafael Cruz was born in Portugal and grew up in Lisbon, where he currently lives and works. He studied Graphic Design and attended the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, as well as Arco (Centre for Art and Visual Communication). Here he developed skills in Illustration and Comics, as well as storytelling, and was introduced to the practice of engraving (a workshop in which he spent the most time). He discovered an interest in hatching, textures and ink drawings. With this material he developed a particular style based on fiction, horror and mythology, and some folklore culture, also serving as inspiration for the Heavy Metal musical style that he listens to constantly. He also currently attends the Lx Atelier, where he studies the great masters and improves his drawing and painting skills.
